Fifth edition (i. e. printing). Although he went on to work for The Times and also acted as the Earl of Dufferin's private secretary, Wallace is perhaps best known for his Russia. Based on his own residence in the country during the years 1870-5, the book proved of enduring popularity and went through many editions.
