Sell to us

Tell us about your books! We are always interested in hearing about items you might wish to offer.

What are we looking for?

Basic information

To identify a book, we usually need information about:

  • Title
  • Author
  • Printer/publisher
  • Date of publication

You can often find all this information on the book's title-page. Please also let us know about any major defects.

Photographs

Images of the following will help us assess your book(s):

  • Title-page
  • Binding/covers
  • Signatures/inscriptions, bookplates, or any other marks of provenance

Simple snapshots from a mobile are usually fine, and we can ask you if we need more images.

Next steps

If we are interested in your item, we may ask you to bring it into the shop before we make our final offer.

With prior agreement, and by invitation, you are welcome to send items for appraisal, with all shipping charges and insurance costs met by the seller.

Additional information

Large collections

Let us know if you have a large collection you'd like us to look at. We are happy to undertake home visits within the UK and to discuss the prospect of visiting internationally to assess collections.

Disclaimer

We receive a high volume of enquiries daily and will only reply if we are interested in buying your item or require more information, so if you haven't received a response within 5 days please assume that, regrettably, your offer wasn't for us.

Please note - we do not give valuations on the basis of an email, and we do not value books unless we are considering making an offer for them.
