8vo.; publisher's rich cream cloth pictorially lettered and decorated in dark green, decorative endpapers; pp. [x] + 168; with frontispiece and title-page in pink and black and illustrations throughout in black and white, including full-page plates; a very fresh copy, both externally and internally.
First edition, inscribed and signed by the author to a front blank, "Gertrude Andersson, a souvenir of the Met Fair of 1930 from Nora Archibald Smith". Nora Archibald Smith (1859-1934) was the sister of Kate Douglas Wiggins, the author of ~i~Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm". Both sisters were active in the Kindergarten Movement, at the turn of the twentieth century, and promoted Friedrich Frobel's theories on early years' education in their works.
