First edition, second printing, of this anthology of avant-garde German poetry including contributions by Ingeborg Bachmann, Günter Grass, Paul Celan, and Helmut Heißenbüttel, this copy signed by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, publisher and director of the Pocket Poets series.

A series of translations, New Young German Poets was Jerome Rothenberg’s first published book, no. 11 in the Pocket Poets Series, founded by Ferlinghetti in summer 1955. In 1959, Rothenberg established The Hawks Well Press, which published his own first collection of poetry, White Sun Black Sun.
