With his rejection of mainstream publication, original editions of the works of J.H. Prynne remain hard to source (the collections have mainly appeared in small editions from presses based predominantly in Cambridge). An associate of the British Revival movement, which looked to Modernist poets such as Charles Olson and William Carlos Williams for inspiration, Prynne was originally part of the publishing outlet The British Intelligencer who welcomed these new, experimental voices.
Prynne has continued to publish an extensive range of academic prose and has written poetry in classical Chinese under the name "Pu Ling-en". He remains one of Britain's leading Modernist poets and continues to produce plentiful new verse.
