PARRY, Sir William Edward. Autograph Note. London December 3rd [1825].

Single sheet (c. 23 by 19 cm), sometime taken out of an album, with some album paper stuck on the verso, signs of folding, chip to one corner, otherwise very good.
An autograph note of 10 lines in ink from Arctic explorer Sir William Parry to Lord Bexley (or Baron Bexley), Nicholas Vansittart, sending him 'a box containing some trifles from the Polar Regions. Which were packed up some months ago to be forwarded to England by the Hecla'. Vansittart had resigned Chancellor of the Exchequer and been created Baron Bexley during Parry's two-year expedition in search of the North-West Passage. Parry named Vansittart Island in the Foxe Basin in his honour. This note must have been written after the return of the third expedition to the Canadian Arctic from May 1824 to October 1825, were Parry served in the rank of Captain.
