      8vo. Original orange cloth, lettered and decorated in black, with the rarely seen dust-wrapper (not price-clipped); pp. vii, 272, [2], plates after photographs; wrapper with a few flaws and light discolouration, otherwise a very good copy.

      First edition. As a courtier close to the Tsar, Mosolov (1854-1939) was able to report the family life of and tensions within the Romanovs, their conversations and political views. The book contains probably the best description of the court ceremonial.
