JONES, Harold (illustrator). [Kathleen LINES (editor)]. Original pen, ink, and watercolour illustration for "The Sleeping Beauty". 1960.
Original pen, ink, and watercolour illustration, image size circa 10 x 9cm; presented in an ivory-coloured acid-free mount, reproduced on page 78 of the published book, Jack and the Beanstalk; A Book of Nursery Stories by Kathleen Lines (Oxford University Press, 1960).
This image, which illustrates a secene from "The Sleeping Beauty", depicts the moment after the prince's kiss when the castle reawakens, "the king and queen also awoke, and all the court, and they gazed at each other with great wonder. And the horses got up and shook themselves, and the dogs jumped about and barked; the pigeons took their heads from under their wings, and looked about and flew into the fields".
