HAMILTON FINLAY, Ian. Homage to Kahnweiler. With Stuart Barrie. 1972.
120 × 166 mm.
A collaboration with Stuart Barrie. ‘It was after the publication of his first Gris poem To the Painter, Jaun Gris, a punning homage to his excellent still lifes that Finlay read Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler’s Juan Gris: His Life and Works. This monograph in fact constitutes a survey of the theory and history of painting, in which Gris features as an exemplary instance. Finlay commented in 1970 that it needed a concluding chapter on concrete poetry’ (Yves Abrioux).
