Beat poet Allen Ginsberg’s photographs include portraits of fellow writers Jack Kerouac, Neal Cassady, and William Burroughs, among others. This book reproduces nearly one hundred of Ginsberg’s black and white portraits, taken from the 1950s through to the 1980s. Each photograph is accompanied by annotations in facsimile in Ginsberg’s hand, describing the characters and episodes that populated his life.
This unique copy includes an original ink drawing by Ginsberg illustrating his favoured Blakean poem ‘Ah! Sunflower’.
