Publisher’s vellum over boards, spine and upper board lettered directly in gilt, Beardsley’s three-candle device to rear board; pp. [6], 60, [2]; photographic frontispiece of Beardsley and a further 4 plates with tissue guards, 3 woodcut headpieces and vignettes by Beardsley in the text; light soiling to spine, boards slightly bowed, a few marks to rear board; a few minor rust-spots to lower inner margin of pp. 25–28, first tissue guard foxed, else internally exceptionally well preserved; a very good copy.

A.E. Gallatin’s catalogue of Beardsley’s drawings, featuring his previously unpublished illustration of German tenor Max Alvary in the role of Tristan, no. 8 of 30 special-issue copies bound in vellum and interleaved with blank writing paper.

The special issue comprised the first thirty copies printed; the ordinary issue consisted of two hundred and twenty copies in vellum-backed dark grey boards. Gallatin, a visual artist himself, was a prominent collector of works by Beardsley, Whistler, and Beerbohm, and in his preface, written at the Grolier Club, thanks photographer Frederick Evans, stained glass artist Henry Arthur Payne, Beardsley collector Henry C. Quinby, and poet and librarian Sir Edmund Gosse for examining his proofs.
