Forgotten Photographs continues Larry Clark’s photographic exploration of the extremes of American youth culture. Collated by Clark himself, this book brings together photographs from many series of portraits including of Clark himself, showing the infamously rebellious youth photographer, in middle age, smoking or posing with his friends and subjects. These are placed alongside portraits of contemporary teenage metal bands, posed sex scenes and a historic family portrait. Forgotten Photographs presents a racy glimpse of Clark’s continued personal delve into the riotous lives of his subjects. The use of colour creates a distinction with the photographer’s earlier photo series’, developing his capacity for experimentation while maintaining his easy attitude towards sex, violence, and friendship.
