CHETTUR, Sankara Krishna. Malayan Adventure. Mangalore (Mangaluru): Basel Mission Press. 1948.
8vo. Original cloth, lettered in black; pp. xvi, 260, plates after photographs; spine minimally faded, rear cover with ink spots (accident in the bindery during lettering); a very good copy of a great rarity.
First edition, presentation copy signed and inscribed to one Tulasi, January 12, 1949, on front fly-leaf of the Indian Civil Servant's and short story writer's memoirs of his years from 1945 to 1947 as India's representative to Singapore under Lord Mountbatten, where he arranged Pandit Nehru's visit to meet the people of Indian origin in Malaya. It was also the first time that Mountbatten and Nehru had met. Chettur describes in detail Malaya, where he was concerned with the condition of the Indian workers, and southeast Asian cooperation in the reconstruction after the war.
WorldCat locates copies in the British Library, at Vassar College, Cornell, University of Michigan, at the Yusof Ishak Institute, and of course in Singapore.
