BRONTES - BANKS, Lynne Reid (author). Path to the Silent Country. Charlotte Bronte's Years of Fame. London; Weidenfeld And Nicolson. 1977.
8vo.; publisher's terracotta linson boards lettered gilt to spine, in pictorial dustwrapper; pp. [xi], xii-xv + [iii], [3]-208; externally fine, internally fresh save mild toning to rear endpapers and lower flap, with ownership inscription of Lynne Reid Bank's niece, or nephew, to front pastedown, "CJC McOustra, Fulham, London, 1977, dedicated by Lynne to my Mother Adrienne and her sister Veronica" - the printed dedication reads, "To my dearest aunts, Adrie and Vee" - with tiny upper corner turns to a few leaves (not in order to bookmark pages) but otherwise very clean, in a very good, unclipped dustwrapper (£4.25), sunned to spine.
First edition, a presentation copy which has been inscribed by the author to the half-title, "To dear Chris - Thanks for actually BUYING it! Hope you like it, & cry, Love, Lynne, June 1st 1978". This is a continuation of the Brontë story which began with "Dark Quartet".
