Henry Christopher Bailey was an important English crime novelist of the “Golden Age” alongside Agatha Christie. While highly popular during his lifetime, his work has largely been forgotten. He is best known for his numerous short stories featuring the surgeon-turned-detective Reggie Fortune, affiliated with Scotland Yard but operating with his own independent sleuthing methods.
Mr. Fortune’s Trials contains six curious tales, in which forensic precision and scientific observation are applied to unravel grisly and perplexing crimes.
