Scarce first edition of an important and detailed documentation of the history of Chios since 1912, focusing on he dark days of German occupation with documents in English, German and Greek. The Greek jurist, diplomat, historian of Chios, lawyer and bibliophile (1891-1974) was a descendant of one Lorenzo Argenti, who aftet participating in the first Crusade (1096-1099) settled in Constantinople. The Argenti family lived in Chios from 1511 onwards. He founded and provided the Korais library in Chios.
