    • GINSBERG, Allen. Wales – A Visitation July 29th 1967. London: Cape Goliard Press. 1968.

4to. Original brown paper-covered boards, in the dust-jacket with photograph of Ginsberg by Tom Maschler to front; unpaginated; light fading to spines and boards extremities, light wear to top edge of jacket and slight damp staining to upper edge of rear panel; otherwise very good.

First edition, one of 200 hors commerce copies.

Ginsberg composed Wales – A Visitation in the summer of 1967 while travelling through the Black Mountains with the publisher Tom Maschler and under the influence of LSD. The poem is deeply indebted to the Romantic tradition, with visionary descriptions of the Welsh landscape and even the bleating of lambs evoking the prophetic imagination of William Blake.
