Edited by Ted Hughes, this landmark volume contains all of Plath’s mature poetry written between 1956 and her death in 1963, including a number previously unpublished and uncollected poems. The poems are arranged in order of composition, each year forming a separate “chapter”, allowing readers to witness the growth of a great poet and encounter familiar poems in a fresh context (and the reverse). Introduced by Hughes, the poems are followed by notes and commentary, as well as an appendix containing fifty examples of Plath's juvenilia. Published 28 September 1981; 2000 copies were printed.
