First edition, first printing this posthumously issued collection of Plath’s poems.
The poems collected in Crossing the Water were written by Plath during the transitional period between The Colossus (1960) and Ariel (1965). It was the second collection of her poetry to be published posthumously and edited by Ted Hughes. The first edition, published 31 May 1971, was issued in a print run of 7,000 copies.
