MCCARTHYISM - Red Channels. The Report of Communist Influence in Radio and Television. New York, American Business Consultants, Publishers of Counterattack, June, 1950.
8vo. Original illustrated card wrappers; pp. [viii], 213, [3]; wrappers a little marked, contemporary Irish ownership inscription to half title, otherwise very good.
First edition of this comprehensive and exhausting list of 151 names of activists, radio and television producers, actors and other theatre workers accused of being un-American, including the organisations they are affiliated with and their 'subversive' activities. The entry on the author of ~i~The Crucible, Arthur Miller is almost two pages long, and must have contributed Miller's urge to write something poignant (and efficient) about the witch hunt.
