CONDON, Bigadier W. E. H. The Frontier Force Regiment. Aldershot: Gale & Polden, 1962.
4to. Original cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front cover with insignia in gilt; pp. xxii, [2], 592, errata slip tipped in at p. 115, colour frontispiece, plates after photographs and paintings, numerous maps, mostly folding; one corner lightly scuffed, minimal spotting to binding, otherwise very good.
Surprisingly rare first edition. The regiment's origins date back to the pre-Mutiny period, and it still exists in modern-day Pakistan, comprising 52 battalions, including many Sikh units. The book traces the activities in many theatres of war, from Afghanistan, over Northwest Frontier conflicts, the First World War (mostly in the wider Middle East, Iraq and Palestine), to the Second World War (East Africa, Mediterranean, Malaya, Burma, and again in the Middle East).
WorldCat locates only three copies in the US, at Harvard, University at Albany, and Brown University.
