BROOK, Chris (editor); GIMPO (photography). K Foundation Burn A Million Quid. London: Ellipsis. 1997.

First edition, first impression signed by the editor, Chris Brook, and dated “London 1997” in black ink to the half title page.

On the 22nd August 1994 Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond travelled to the island of Jura off the west coast of Scotland with a suitcase containing a million pounds in new £50 notes. Accompanying them was Gimpo, a long time colleague and friend. On the 23rd Gimpo was handed a Hi-8 video camera and told to record Cauty and Drummond burning the money. It took fifty-five minutes, and after the ashes were swept back into the suitcase. This book is an exploration of that event. Throughout are photographs, narrative comments, and interviews.

KLF were known for their outlandish stunts such as their 1992 Brit Awards performance when they announced they would be leaving the music industry and deleted their back catalogue of music.
