DURAZZI, Alberto The Beatles, Teatro Adriano, Roma, 27th June 1965. Roma: Agenzia Dufoto. 1965
16 x 12 inch gelatin silver print, with Agenzia Dufoto stamp to reverse. This close-up of Paul McCartney at the microphone, eyes cast whimsically to the heavens, was taken when the Beatles played two concerts, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, at the Teatro Adriano, now a cinema. This was the height of Beatlemania; they repeated the feat the next day. Other photos taken by Durazzi of this concert are to be found online but we have not been able to find this image reproduced elsewhere.
Durazzi (1925-90) also known as Aldo Durazzo, was born in Milan. He worked for Gazzetta dello Sport and the agency Farabola. After moving to Rome, he founded Agenzia Dufoto in 1956 on Via del Corso and became known as a chronicler of the great and good.
