First edition, text in Japanese and English, of this lavishly produced monograph on the the legendary Japanese ceramicist, prefaced by his pupil, book design by Hiromu Hara. In 1920 Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada founded the Leach Pottery, St Ives, the birthplace of British studio pottery. This book showcases specimens of Hamada's work from 1921 to to 1969.
