Henry Christopher Bailey was an important English crime novelist of the 'Golden Age' alongside Agatha Christie. The popularity experienced during his lifetime did not extend into legacy- he has been largely forgotten. He was mainly known for his many short stories featuring the medically-qualified detective Reggie Fortune, affiliated with Scotland Yard but with his own sleuth agenda. Mr Fortune's Trials is the third installment in the series and involves six curious tales whose gore is investigated to utter precision by a man of science.
