ADYE, Ralph Willett. The Bombardier, and Pocket Gunner. [London: Thomas Stewart, circa 1810].
12mo. Full calf; spine ruled in gilt, with lettering in gilt to morocco label; pp. [xiv], 277, 8; rubbing to spine and extremities; a few marks and tears to edges of front fly-leaf; title page missing; inscription to half-title, and a few pencil inscriptions to text; a good copy.
Later edition, first published in 1801. Little is recorded of Adye's military career apart from his various promotions and the fact that he died at Gibraltar in 1804. This was the best known of several primers for artillery officers that appeared during the Napoleonic Wars.
