SITWELL, Sacheverell, Handasyde BUCHANAN and James FISHER. Fine Bird Books. H.F. & G. Witherby. 1990.
4to. Original blue cloth and illustrated dustwrapper; pp. xii + 180, illustrated in colour throughout; spine of wrapper a trifle sunned, otherwise fine.
First edition of this reproduction of the 1953 classic. This is one of the three most important ornithological bibliographies, alongside Nissen IVB and Zimmer. What distinguishes this from the other two is that it is a beautifully produced book in its own right, highlighted by Sitwell's lucid commentary, and enhanced by the good work of his colleagues.
