Including Willian Burroughs's only contribution
[SANDERS, Ed (editor).] Fuck You: A Magazine Of The Arts, Number 5 Volume 7. New York: Fuck You Press.1964.
4to. Original publishers beige wrappers with illustrated cover in black, 40 multi-coloured mimeographed leaves, unpaginated, staple bound, tears to spine and no longer connected to staples; internally fine besides stains on blank versos presumably caused by the printing process; overall very good.
'The God Issue'. First edition of the third-to-last publication of the influential and defiant Fuck You Magazine. Includes back cover, 'DOPES-FREAKS- ARISE !' which is sometimes absent in other copies due to binding issues.
The third-to-last publication of the influential and defiant Fuck You Magazine. It features contributions from names as resonant as Antonin Artaud, Gary Snyder and Charles Olson. It was the only one of its issues to incorporate work by the prolific William Burroughs, who delivers “Fluck You Fluck You Fluck You”, written in a three-column layout dated March 31, 1964, from Tangier. Fuck You Magazine loudly promoted subject matters such as free sex and the taboos surrounding psychedelics before these were popularly countered taboos and were not afraid of inciting provocative conversation. The cover design is by Robert De LaVigne and illustrations by Ed Sanders.
As the back cover states, Fuck You Magazine is 'printed, published, & edited by Ed Sanders at a secret lovefare bunker in the lower east side'.
