First English edition. Following the success of Die Nuba: Menschen wie von einem anderen Sternen (Munich: 1973), her first book about the Nuba peoples of Sudan which was based on her travels, Riefenstah returned to Sudan for sixteen weeks to live among and photograph the South East Nuba (whom Riefenstahl calls 'The Nuba of Kau'). The photographs which form the basis of this volume won the Gold Medal of Germany's Art Directors Club in 1975, and the book, which was first published in German as Die Nuba von Kau (Munich: 1976), won numerous accolades.
