Sigmar Polke was never one to play strictly in one medium. He studied painting at the Dusseldorf Kunstakademie and, following his 1968 graduation, made this outlet his trademark yet despite this, his relationship with photography was lifelong (although throughout his colourful career he often struggled to afford printing the thousands of photographs he produced). This multimedia box containing surreal, ethereal black and white photographs is accompanied by a beautiful preface from Althuas, "He taught her that the soul always thinks in images".
