First editon. Simply known as Miguel Hidalgo, this is a biographical study of the Mexican Catholic priest and a leader of the Mexican War of Independence. As a priest in Guanajuato he was outraged by the poverty caused by Spanish protectionist policies, making it illegal, for example, to grow olives. He gathered an army of 90,000 campesinos. After one lost battle he was exexuted by the Spanish in 1811.
