MOGGRIDGE, 'Jackie'. Woman Pilot. London: Michael Joseph. [1957].

8vo. Original cloth with illustrated dust-wrapper (retaining price); pp. 235, [2], portrait-frontispiece, folding map at rear; wrapper with marginal fraying and minor loss; a little offsetting from endpapers and frontispiece, resulting in spotting to title-page, edges a little spotted; a good copy rarely seen in the wrappers, if at all.

First edition, presentation copy, inscribed and signed on title-page. This is the autobiography of one of the most outstanding woman pilots of the 20th century. Among the many achivements in the male-dominated world of aviation is her ferrying over 1400 warplanes as a member of the A.T.A. (Air Transport Auxiliary) during WWII, flying Israeli Spitfires to Burma in the 1950s, and being the first female Airline Captain to ferry passengers on scheduled flights.
