Small format 8vo., original green card covers, ruled and lettered in black and white; pp. [ix], 10-634, [vi]; a very good to near-fine copy, lightly rubbed at edges and along spine, with creasing to the backstrip; small pencil price to the rear cover; very light, even toning throughout.

No. 39 in the Traveller’s Companion Series. A reissue of this edition, printed in April 1959 by Imp. Moderne du Lion, Paris, and sold for 3.000 francs. ‘Sexus’ was originally published in 1949 by the Obelisk Press, and by the Olympia Press in 1957.

The first book in the ‘Rosy Crucifixion’ series. Banned in both the UK and the US for almost 20 years after the initial publication, the book tells a fictionalised story of Miller’s sexual adventures in New York following ‘my thirty-third year, the age Christ was crucified’. “A wholly new life lay before me”, he writes, “had I the courage to risk all.”
