MILLER, HENRY The Rosy Crucifixion Book One: Sexus. Paris: The Olympia Press.1957.

Small format 8vo., original green card covers, ruled and lettered in black and white; pp. [ix], 10-634, [iv]; a very good to near-fine example, the covers retaining much of their colour; some minor rubbing to edges and a couple of small splits to head and foot of spine, browning to spine, vertical crease to rear wrapper.
First edition thus, No. 39 in the Traveller’s Companion Series. Printed in June 1957 by Imp. Moderne du Lion, Paris, it was originally sold for 2.400 francs. ‘Sexus’ was originally published in 1949 by the Obelisk Press.

The first book in the ‘Rosy Crucifixion’ series. Banned in both the UK and the US for almost 20 years after the initial publication, the book tells a fictionalised story of Miller’s sexual adventures in New York following ‘my thirty-third year, the age Christ was crucified’. “A wholly new life lay before me”, he writes, “had I the courage to risk all.”
