Two volumes, foolscap folio. Original printed card wrappers in slip-case with typed label on spine; pp. [32, the final two blank]; the Diary not paginated and with illustrations after photographs, one small spot on a wrapper, the slipcase a little marked and with bookplate; otherwise very good.
Both publications had been published first in 1937 by the Corvinus Press in very limited editions (see below for one). The Essay is one of 52 copies, signed by the editor B. Johnston of this edition of 500; the Diary one of 150 copies (not numbered) for sale of a total printrun of 203. 'The poet James Elroy Flecker had been a friend of Lawrence's in Beirut before the war. None of the appearances of this essay have been in trade editions' (O'Brien on the first edition of 1937). The Diary are TEL's notes kept during his solitary journey through Syria in 1911.
