Contemporary red half morocco, marbled boards, gilt rules to sidnes, spine gilt raised bands and lettering ; pp. xv + [i] + 320, 304; with 20 handcoloured engraved plates and 200 engraved illustrations by John Leech; binding a little rubbed to extremities, occasional internal spotting , very good.
Early edition. Despite the 'comic' epithet this is more accurately a light and readable history, chronicling events from the time of the Ancient Britons through to the accession of George III, enlivened by engaging and humorous illustrations.
