Small 4to., brick red cloth gilt to spine; yellow endpapers; original publisher's grey, red, white and black dustwrapper; pp. [x], 11-111, [i]; a fine copy in jacket which is clipped and has some minor shelf wear.
First edition, No. 14 of 150 specially numbered copies signed by Ginsberg to the rear free endpaper, and dated January 14, 1982. This copy contains Ginsberg's own handwritten corrections on p. 30 'chest' for 'breast' and p.101 (the addition of 'long').
The final volume in the pocket poet series, which was published by Lawrence Ferlinghetti and the first volume of which had appeared in 1955. A photograph to p. [x] shows Ginsberg with his partner Orlovsky and friends of Rocky Flats truth force meditating on R.R. train tracks outside of Rockwell Corporation's Nuclear Facility's Plutonium bomb trigger factory in Colorado. The protest halted a trainload of waste fissile materials on the day that the title poem was completed, July 14th 1978.
