Contemporary red morocco by Morrell of London, with gilt borders and cornerpieces to boards, gilt title to front cover, spine with five raised bands, gilt lettering and decorative borders gilt, art deco embossed decoration extending from each band onto boards, upper edge gilt, else untrimmed, gilt turn-ins and blue textured endpapers; pp. [x], vii, [iii], 3-84, [viii], full woodcut title, additional title in red and black, tipped-in engraved head and tail pieces to start and finish each chapter; a couple of light scratches to binding; endleaves lightly offset, else fine; bookseller's ticket "J.E. Cornish … Manchester" to rear pastedown.
