First US edition of Buchan's memoirs published posthumously. One of the very few copies issued in Harvard Presentation bindings with the additional 8 page essay, John Buchan and Harvard and report of a speech before the main text body. The book was issued under the title Memory Hold-the-Door in Britain.
This copy includes, bound in after the half title, an 8 page pamphlet by David McCord entitled John Buchan and Harvard which also includes a verbatim report of John Buchan's speech when he was awarded an honorary degree from Harvard in 1938, Mr Buchan's Remarks at meeting of Harvard Alumni Association June 23 1938.. With a Harvard Club of Connecticut bookplate presenting this copy to Robert Day.
