Originally opening in 1855 and known as Wentworth House, it became known as the Wentworth House family hotel some thirty years later. In 1950 Qantas Empire Airways acquired the hotel and proceeded to completely reconstruct the site to better reflect the preferences of its target market. To that end the company commissioned the creation of a stunning 15 storey hotel that displayed a wealth of mid 20th Century modern Architecture.
The reborn Wentworth Hotel rapidly emerged as Sydney's finest retreat reaching 5 star status. Its unrivalled French inspired hospitality attracted a massive clientele which included influential figures from around the World.
