Airlines of Australia was originally incorporated as New England Airways in 1931. It was formed by the Robinson family of Lismore. In 1934 the airline would connect with the Qantas flight from Brisbane that would fly onto Singapore.
In October 1935 the new company Airlines of Australia was floated to replace New England Airways. It commenced operations in January 1936.
