The airline was founded in January 1926. With the lifting of restrictions on commercial air operations imposed on Germany by the treaty of Versailles it quickly allowed the route network to expand.
The airlines main base was Berlins Templehof Airport. The airline had close links to the Nazi party and Adolf Hitler was given an aircraft for his 1932 campaign [see part Swastika showing on aircraft tail on this label]. All civilian flights ceased on 1st September 1939.
