Scarce first edition of this volume of war crime trials - volume V in the series - dealing with Natzweiler concentration camp (Konzentrationslager Natzweiler-Struthof) in the Bas-Rhin department of northeast France. An estimated 20,000 people were killed there, among them F.A.N.Y. women, including the SOE members Vera Leigh and a leading French Resistance operative, Andrée Raymonde Borrel. 'Too little has been written of the bravery attending the underground work carried out by women members of the British Forces and the F.A.N.Y. during the war. Here is quite clearly explained what happened to at least four of those who got captured, and readers can visualize for themselves that theirs was a fate common to many of this gallant band' (blurb inside front flap).
