First English edition. Kotzebue, a captain with the Russian Imperial Army, joined the Russian Ambassador General Jermoloff on the mission to Tabriz, where they presented themselves to Crown Prince Abbas Mirza. The embassy took place only a few years after cessation of conflict in the Russo-Persian war (1804-13) and doubtless the Russian party was interested to see what sort of military improvements the Crown Prince may have made.
