His reviews and essays offer meticulous analyses of the works of more than five-hundred artists exhibited in New York during the early to mid-1960s, illuminating this pivotal period in American art. While delving into the social and political dimensions of artistic production, his writing frequently spotlighted notable figures such as Jackson Pollock, Kazimir Malevich, Barnett Newman, and Ad Reinhardt.
