First edition of the primary source for Donald Judd’s early writing.

Beginning in 1959, American artist Donald Judd made influential contributions as an art critic to a myriad of periodicals, including Arts, Arts Magazine, and Art International. His reviews and essays offer meticulous analyses of the works of more than five-hundred artists exhibited in New York during the early to mid-1960s, illuminating this pivotal period in American art. While delving into the social and political dimensions of artistic production, his writing frequently spotlighted notable figures such as Jackson Pollock, Kazimir Malevich, Barnett Newman, and Ad Reinhardt.

Reprinted in 2005 and then out of print for many years, this rare anthology of Judd’s writings is now an incredibly scarce and in demand classic.
