Contemporary full red crushed morocco, spine lettered in gilt, all-over ornamented in blind and gilt, all edges gilt; pp. [vi], engraved frontispiece, 48 engraved plates, each accompanied by a leaf of text (printed on one side, the final engraving with text over two leaves and with final engraved vignette); light rubbing to binding, internally very good, wide margins (large paper copy?).
Second edition (first 1804) of this magnificent view book of Scotland, splendidly bound at the time. The watercolourist and topographical draughtsman Nattes had accompanied John Stoddart on his tours of Scotland in 1799 and 1800 and contributed illustrations to his Remarks on Local Scenery and Manners in Scotland (1801).
