Original black linson boards lettered and ruled in gilt to spine, in pictorial dustwrapper; pp. [vi], 7-170 + [i]; with full colour frontispiece by Stead; both externally and internally fine bar very slight speckling to fore-edge of book block, internally fine without ownership marks or inscriptions, in an unusually clean and attractive, unclipped dustwrapper (8/6) with slight surface abrasions to head of spine and a very small ink-stamped name and date to front flap; an elusive title.
First edition. Biggles looks into the true motives behind an archaeological expedition to the ruins of Quarda and suffers being bombed by jet fighters, grounded by a sand-storm and being attacked in a gun battle.
