Qantas was founded in 1920 as Queensland and Northern territory aerial services. In 1934 Qantas and Imperial Airways formed a new company, Qantas Empire Airways. Qantas flew as far as Singapore and Imperial Airways operated the rest of the service to London. During the Second World War the Australian Government took control of Qantas aircraft, but in 1943 decided to resume the flying boat service.
The route was from Perth (Swan River) to Ceylon (Lake Koggala). This label was collected on a flight in April 1944.
This label is rare in fine condition.
