"If we winter this one out, we can summer anywhere"
HEANEY, Seamus. Wintering Out. London: Faber and Faber. 1972.
8vo. Original publishers blue and white paper wrappers and black title lettering to spine; pp. [vi], 7-80; foxing to wrapper and staining to rear wrapper; otherwise very good.
First paperback edition, which preceded the hardback
Heaney's third collection of poems is surprisingly scarce. The quote, "If we winter this one out, we can summer anywhere" is attirbuted to Heaney from an interview in 1972, the same year of the collections publication, as a reference to the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
