Following his famous Transatlantic flight in 1927 Charles Lindbergh focussed on promoting the development of commercial aviation in the United States.
In July 1929 Transcontinental inaugurated its first coast to coast passenger service.
It operated with Ford Trimotors from New York to Los Angeles. Transcontinental then merged with Western Air Express to form TWA in 1930.
